2008 7 23 Canadian fishing trip

For several days before Mark and Isaac joined Grandpa Lloyd Palmer and Todd and Jake Palmer for a fishing trip to Canada, there was much prep on the boat (batteries, cleaning, organizing) and various camping planning along with getting the needed food items and food prep items. Just before leaving Hibbing, Mark checked the tire pressure on the truck and trailer. Good job, found a nail in the side wall of the passenger side trailer tire. Third place we went to, Walmart, had a tire at about 5:30 p.m. that would work and they installed it. Off to the deer shack!
We packed for our camping / fishing trip and for the Palmer Family gathering in Hill City at Quadna since we were not coming back to Hibbing.
Mark & Isaac arrived at the deer shack just before 10 p.m. After some conversation with Grandpa, Todd and Jake it was to bed since we got up just ater 3 a.m. to head to Canada. Had pancakes, gassed up at Baudette on the Canadian border, and off for an adventure. 70 miles into Canada on the remote Hwy 71, 20 miles north of Emo, we had the earth shaking experience of both drivers side tires of the boat trailer come completely off the trailer (tandem axle). Thanks be to God, 5 1/2 hours later we were on the road with a rental trailer while my trailer was being fixed in Emo (long story). Just before arriving at the Indian Reservation at Goshawk landing, we drove over this dam that Grandpa Palmer, Mark and Todd drove over 35 years ago, 1973, on our first trip to Goshawk!
